Goodreads redesign (web & app)

Case study
Project Overview
Goodreads is a simple tool that helps you keep track of how many books you have read from year to year, you can connect to your friends and other readers, and discover more books to add to your list. However, the app and the website have not been maintained in years and there are many features that are lacking or that could benefit both the user and the company. So here I will track my attempt in trying to redesign the landing page and some screens from the app by keeping some of the key features and maybe adding some new and trendy ones from the key competitors. Let’s see how it goes.
My Contributions
I wanted to create a better landing page for the website and a few new screens for the mobile version as it is outdated. The current redesign is still undergoing improvement, but that's where I am at the moment.
I am an avid reader and I have been using Goodreads for years. Hence, since I started my design journey I started noticing things that I didn't see before on my favourite websites and apps.

Goodreads was launched in 2007 and by the end of the same year the site had 650,000 members and 10,000,000 books. Goodreads was acquired by Amazon in 2013, however, the app faces criticism for its buggy, outdated tech and poor content moderation, which makes other options more appealing to users. This is why I decided to attempt a redesign. I want to add a few more features, maybe include a blog post section at the end, but have a look at what I currently have.

Challenges:
- A landing page that corresponds to current trends.
- A landing page which has easy to see CTA's and interesting features which grab the users' attention.
- Decide on the extend of the redesign (should I keep the same colour palette, typography, components.)
- Redesigning a few screens from the app (at least 5 to form a flow).
