I am an avid reader and I have been using Goodreads for years. Hence, since I started my design journey I started noticing things that I didn't see before on my favourite websites and apps.
Goodreads was launched in 2007 and by the end of the same year the site had 650,000 members and 10,000,000 books. Goodreads was acquired by Amazon in 2013, however, the app faces criticism for its buggy, outdated tech and poor content moderation, which makes other options more appealing to users. This is why I decided to attempt a redesign. I want to add a few more features, maybe include a blog post section at the end, but have a look at what I currently have.
Challenges:
- A landing page that corresponds to current trends.
- A landing page which has easy to see CTA's and interesting features which grab the users' attention.
- Decide on the extend of the redesign (should I keep the same colour palette, typography, components.)
- Redesigning a few screens from the app (at least 5 to form a flow).
Below you can see a few photos from the project. On this
linkyou can see the original landing page as it is in the moment. Below is the redesign. For the full Case study please visit the following link
